We would like to stress that it is Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan as the climax is slightly changed from what was there in the novel. Mani Ratnam has taken some liberties in the Second portion. He has the liberties. However, he needs to keep in mind that there are folks who haven't read the novel yet. However, what we want to acknowledge is that he has done something that is insurmountable. Hi Friends, welcome to our channel. This is a short video on Why Mani Ratnam didn't cast Aishwarya Rai as Kundavai in Ponniyin Selvan. Instead, he gave her the character of Nandini, which has villainy written all over it. Aishwarya chose to play that role as she was also playing the character of the queen who was dumb too. That Character is also a pivotal character as she rescues Raja Raja every now and then. Without this, we feel she may not have played the character of Nandini. In both the characters, Mani Ratnam has extracted good performance from Aishwarya Rai.
