Well, this is a short video on our thoughts about who should have played the role of Sundar Chola in Ponniyin Selvan. Also, our thoughts on what you need to do if you haven't read the novel yet.

Well, the role of Sundara Chola, the father of Raja Raja Chola is played by Prakash Raj in the movie. Sundar means beauty in Sanskrit. Since he was very handsome, he was called as Sundara Chola or the beautiful king. Although we don't have anything against Prakash raj, we feel a hero like Kamalahaasan or Arvind Swami could have played that role, making it lot more real. Prakash raj is also a good cast, but he has slightly villainous eyes which make more suitable for villain roles. In the story though he is shown mostly unwell and bed ridden, it could have still made a lot of difference.

Kamalahaasan however does have a role to play in the movie as a voice over of time. He must be describing about various characters in his chaste tamil which could also be found everyone:). The other thing we wanted to discuss about was if you have not read the novel yet. As you know, the movie is tied to the novel written in the 1950's by the late Kalki. If you haven't read the novel yet, the best bet is to read the novel now. It is available as an application also on Android or Iphone. One can very well try reading it. If you haven't read it and are trying to watch some videos that say Ponniyin Selvan story in 30 minutes, you are making a grave mistake. You won't be able to understand the depth of the characters and would be having only a small view of the movie. Hence, if you haven't read the novel yet, it's better to not read it now and watch the movie. Else, you won't be able to enjoy the movie! That's for sure.

The other thing about the teaser was that some people felt that there was to much of violence depicted. The reason is that Aditya Karikalan, the eldest Son of Sundara Chola was an able general and was also cruel to his enemies. He would permit his Soldiers to loot enemy terrritory after a war. In order to depict that convincingly, the teaser might have been shown that way. Raja Raja, his younger Son was however more benevolent and Straight forward. In fact, whenever he fought a war, he used to insist that all goods and food for the army are sent from Chola Empire. In that way, he was very much different from most other kings. There is also a case filed on Mani Ratnam that the characters have not been shown with Holy ash smeared on their heads as the Cholas were Shaivites. For us also this sounds a bit odd but looking it at a larger perspective, we feel its ok to cater multi linguistic people. Hi Friends, welcome to our channel. Well, this is a short video on the recent hooch tragedy in Gujarat. Some 40 people have lost their lives. In this connection, we also want to look at the steps that the former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa took to circumvent such happenings way back in 2004 itself. Although boozing/drinking is not a good practice, lives are also important. In this connection, we need to look at her actions also and why we feel Gujarat needs to do a re-think on Prohibition and why we feel Annamalai himself may not have a complete solution to implement Prohibition. In this Gujarat Hooch tragedy also, the bootleggers may get arrested and go to jail, but can it solve the problem? We are not supporting drinking. However, on the whole, drinking is not considered a seriously bad thing. In the Society itself people have started accepting social drinking as a common practice. Hence, implementing prohibition is easier said than done. Some 50 years ago, people who smoke or drink were looked upon, but now it is no longer a big taboo. However one problem in Tamilnadu is that boozing is not a common practice and people are sometimes becoming alcoholics. This should be curbed. If Tamilnadu Government tries to implement prohibition, then it would only spawn illicit brewing resulting in more deaths like what we saw in Gujarat hooch tragedy. There was also a similar tragedy in Punjab early last year when over 50 people lost their lives. People who are generally drinking more are those in the lower strata of society. For them, booze is a pain reliever where they drink at night and go to sleep. For the reason to remove illicit brewing, Jayalalithaa brought in TASMAC to brew legally and market it at it's outlets so that people can have quality(!) booze. This certainly has prevented people dying from consuming hooch. Karunanidhi took Jayalalithaa's efforts further and opened more TASMAC outlets all over the state. Now TASMAC is the biggest revenue generator for the Government. If TASMAC were not there, we can expect more illicit brewing resulting in hooch tragedies. We feel that prohibition is a failure in Gujarat itself. Hence, with boozing not considered a major social evil, we feel all states may need to a re-think on prohibition. They can preach prohibition right from school. Else, if they close liquor shops down and implement prohibition, it is only going to result in deaths. We feel better sense would prevail on states that are trying to implement prohibition. Again, we are not stressing that drinking is good, we are only stressing on the futility of implementing prohibition without changing the society as a whole. We hope you liked this video. Well, thsi is a short video on the difference Annamalai has made to Tamilnadu BJP in the last one year since he became president. incidentally, he was the only amongst all state leaders to have been invited to the farewell function of President Ramnath Kovind. We are looking at the achievements in the last year. Huge crowds throng to his speech and the youth have been flocking to his meetings, giving a scare to all parties. He also communicates successfully with the audience. The fact that an ex IPS officer has joined politics after resigning his post seems to have attracted the people. This is similar to what MGR did to ADMK in 1982 when he made J.Jayalalithaa as the ADMK Propaganda Secretary. That was a bold move as Jayalalithaa was able to travel throughout Tamilnadu and address huge gatherings and also attract large audience. That's what Annamalai is also doing. This has also scared parties like PMK which have been warning it's men that path to the BJP is a one way road and People are not going to return, once they move towards it (The BJP). caste based parties have littery become jittery. Whenever Annamalai addresses meetings, we can hear whistles which is rare for bJP. This is normally associated with the Kazhagams, DMK and ADMK. However, party cadres enthusiastically whistling and greeting their leader is something of a game changer. This is indeed a plus point. BJP is no longer a party of a few castes. In his meetings also, Annamalai address local issues, for example, Dharmapura atheenam issue, where Annamalai also threatened to break any rules and ultimately prevailed when the DMK Government gave in. It was a huge victory for the BJP! Annamalai also intervened last year to ensure Aavin got the order to supply Diwali sweets last November. Another instance was when Annamalai let out the Government plan to shift Secretariat to Mamallapuram and DMK folks buying large tracts of land around it. This was a real shock to the DMK as this was discussed in a cabinet meeting and their only reaction was large scale transfer of officials. Annamalai is also keeping a tab on all dmk ministers, giving them sleepless nights. A main example is Senthil Balaji who threatened Annamalai with court cases. Annamalai gave an effective counter and is standing firm against all threats. What DMK seems to have forgotten is that Annamalai is an ex-IPS officers and has handled Rowdy and unruly elements when he was an IPS officer. His Police career was without any blemish and was called Karnataka Singham. Annamalai also hails from Kongu belt which is a stronghold of the BJP. The ADMK is also weakening a bit, which should help BJP. Another thing is DMK folks who want to quit the party are seeking BJP as their next destination. This is a big achievement as DMK folks or ADMK folks if they quit, would move to ADMK or DMK respectively. Another instance is when Annamalai threatened an agitation against KKSSR Ramachandran, the Minister immediately sought a compromise with the complaintant, which is a big victory for Annamalai. In all these instances, Annamalai is setting the agenda! Whatever Annamalai states, DMK follows suit. Annamalai apart from being popular in Karnataka, he is gaining popularity in Telengana/Andhra as seen from the outbursts of Chandrashekara rao. All in all, its a win win situation for Annamalai and the Tamilnadu BJP. By being relentless, they can achieve their objective of Statewide growth in a few years time. All the best, Annamalai ji! Most of you must have read the news about the arson and looting that took place at a residential school in Tamilnadu. A rioting mob ensured that the school’s furniture and buses were reduced to ashes after what the school authorities claimed was a suicide of a girl student named Srimathi. The post Mortem report recommended another chemical analysis. This seems to have set the sorroundings afire while the police had no clue that such a thing was happening. They arrested a section of the school authorities and by then it was too late as damage was done. Currently the chief Minister MK Stalin is infected with Corona and has been admitted to Kaveri hospital in chennai. Police force comes under the direct supervision of Chief Minister and with the Chief Minister Unwell, no one to take a decision on such matters. This is where the role of a deputy Chief Minister would have helped as he would have been able to take a decision. The Government has been pretty much exposed when a proper action taken would have saved loss of property and damages. The Chief Minister MK Stalin is more than 65 years and considering his age, a younger one as a deputy CM would help the DMK for sure. If these issues were not enough, DMK MP from Dharmapuri prevented a bhoomi puja from being performed as it was not a secular practice. The DMK as it is has got a name tag that it is anti-hindu. The DMK folks themselves are working to ensure that it is proved. This is where a direction from the Chief Minister should come and that's where it has been found wanting. Hi Friends, this is a short video on Ponniyin Selvan  is not just a remake of a novel into a Movie. It is Tamilnadu's ancient history being told on a big canvas. It is a story about the brave history of the Tamilians. Raja raja got the name after his conquests and erection of big Temple for Lord Shiva in Thanjavur. His original name was Arunmozhi Thevan. It was called Brihadeeswaram. He got the inspiration to construct the big temple after looking at the huge Statues of Buddha erected in Sri Lanka.  He also became famous after constructing the big temple. The late Kalki wrote Ponniyin Selvan in the 1940's Bahubali, that turned out to be very impressive was an imaginary story, whereas Ponniyin Selvan is a real life Story, where the hero in the Novel was Vanthia Thevan, the brother-in-law of Raja Raja. We would seen RRR which was a magnum opus movie where we felt that story didn't necessitate such a magnum opus. On the other hand, Ponniyin Selvan story itself is a magnum opus  and necessitates such  a huge star cast and money spending. There is a story behind each character. It is definitely a challenge for Mani Ratnam to bring it out but he is definitely capable of doing a good job. The Movie has been planned as a release on September 30th. It was planned for a mid-summer release but had to be postponed due to post production work.  From our channel we plan to produce regular videos until the movie's release. Ponniyin Selvan is a story I like the most and it is also the one liked very much by our Super Star Rajinikanth who mentioned it in his interview to Director Balachander. I have read it many times. Prior to writing the novel, Kalki had traveled within Thanjavur district and had traveled to the places where the story really happened. He was therefore able to bring in the nativity into the Story. I also remember another movie Sivalaperi Pandi that was released in 1993. The Story's write Sowbha traveled extensively inside Tirunelveli district to gather facts about Pandi's life which made the movie more genuine and watchable. At that Napoleon was not a big hero. PS is a real story and there are several twists in the movie. We also need to talk about the producer Lyca for coming forward to produce the movie and spend a huge amount of Money. We may wonder why such pumping of money into the venture, however the Story necessitates it and requires it also. The advantage of the movie is lot of foreign tourists would visit India to go around the places where the Story really happened. We can therefore expect tourist arrivals to pick up if the movie is a success and audience like it. We must therefore be prepared for it. The Story's start itself would be very dramatic and make it interesting right from the start. Mani ratnam's main talent is that he is adept at directing movies that are true stories. A simple example is Nayakan, which was a true story. We wish Mani Ratnam and team all the best and are as eager as anyone to watch the movie.

Edapadi Palaniswami or EPS as he is known has taken control of the ADMK and got himself appointed as interim general Secretary. He can become General Secretary after due elections. He has also got O PanneerSelvam or OPS as he is known, dismissed from the party and removed from Party membership. Incidentally, it was the two of them who gave an undertaking to the election commission that they are the true ADMK and not Sasikala and hence the two leaves should be given to them. The Election commission agreed and it gave it to them. With OPS out, how is EPS going to retrieve the symbol? It is a million dollar question. In our Hindu puranas we say that the Bhagwan's Nama is more powerful than the Bhagwan himself. In the case of ADMK, the two leaves symbol or irattai ilai is more popular than the party itself. Infact, in an election when MGR was alive, at the last minute he changed the previously announced candidate for a consistuency. As a result, the official candidate couldn't get the symbol. The candidate who was removed by MGR still won the election as he got the two leaves Symbol. Both EPS and OPS should remember this. Their infighting has also got the Lloyds road office locked as OPS faction tried to unlock the doors forcefully. Now bot the factions have gone to court, fighting for it. If this infighting continues, the two leaves Symbol may also be withheld by the election commission resulting in an advantage to the DMK. It was the loss of the two leaves symbol that got DMK elected in 1989. The ADMK should very well remember this. What peters out in the future is going to determine how the ADMK party is going to emerge. Will EPS become sole leader or can OPS challenge him? Hi Friends, welcome to our channel. The Dmk is always behind Annamalai in two ways. One is that they are trying to corner him and get him arrested at all costs and are repeatedly failing. The other one is that they are following in his footsteps in that he is setting the tone and the DMK is following suit. There are several examples to quote. The first one is DMK MP Kalanithi who spoke against Agnipath scheme without even knowing what it is. He thought he was asking a brilliant question to Annamalai. Students who come out of Agnipath are offered a class XII pass certificate. If they want to join Medicine, how will it be helpful! A person wanting to join Medicine needs to study Biology and how on earth is he going to join Agnipath when his destination should be Armed Forces medical college! This is one way of DMK asking and receiving bulb.

The reason people are being offered a XII standard certificate is also to help them join in any other professional courses or to get them industry ready. Most people who come out of college are not Industry ready. They can't be employed in any industry. Agnipath scheme tries to alleviate that problem. People who are in Agnipath are also offered industry training that would help them get jobs once they move out of Armed forces. People flock to private institutes like BITS Pilani is because BITS sends them for implant training during holidays that would help them when they get out of college. Recently, Annamalai has started getting physical threats from DMK folks. One Mr.Anbarasan has threatened Annamalai with physical damge. The other one, RS Bharathy has mentioned that he has spared Annamalai only because he is not a Brahmin. These all are frustrations being exhibited by DMK folks at various levels. 

What these people have conveniently forgotten is that Mr.Annamalai was a formed Police officer who had dealt with rowdies. When he was working in Karnataka, he had actually entered rowdies' den who were holding some Policemen to ransom and slapped them openly. He is not going to be cowed down by such threats. The last one is threat of arrest on Annamalai. What the DMK says is that they are going to slap cases on Annamalai for making corruption accusations against Senthil Balaji! Annamalai's reply is that he would first call the Chief Minister MK Stalin as a witness as he was the one who had openly accused Senthil Balaji of corruption when Senthil Balaji was a Minister in the ADMK Government! This again really backfired on the DMK as they know not what to do! We can keep seeing such interesting happening in Tamilnadu politics in the days to come!

Ponniyin selvan Teaser review

The late Kalki's Ponniyin Selvan has always been close to my heart. I first came across the novel written in the 1940's in mid 1980's. I read the entire Novel at one stretch which consisted of four parts. The Story itself starts off with a suspense which should be watched on the big screen. Now, coming back to the teaser, we really feel that Maniratnam has done wonderful work and has also worked hard on the movie. The visuals are amazing and although they remind of Bahubali, this promises to be something more, as this is a real story. The war scenes seem to have been shot well and the Star cast also seems to be apt. Vikram plays the role of Aditya Karikalan, the eldest son and heir apparent to the Chola throne. Aishwarya rai plays the role of Nandini, one of the main antagonists. Trisha plays kundavai, the Sister of Raja Raja Chola and wife of Vanthiathevan, played by Karthi. Even though the Title talks about Raja Raja, the novel's main hero is Vasnthiathevan played by Karthi. Since Karthis is popular in Telugu also, it makes sense for him to play the role. The Teaser has also been brilliantly edited. If we notice, the left side of Aishwarya's face is shown, followed by the right side of Trisha's both with identical ornaments which makes it visually stunning. We can't wait to watch the movie on the big screen. We will keep writing more on this movie as time progresses.

 Why India are better placed against England despite Bairstow:

India have a slight edge in the V test against England having bowled out England for around 284. Bairstow scored his 5th century of 2022 and was poised to take the game away from India before he got out to Shami, who in turn was a tad unlucky, as far as wickets were concerned. He had troubled Root a lot, although he didn't take his wicket. England had fewer answers to the Indian attack as the bowlers were relentless in their attack. Bumrah bowled with confidence as could be gauged from the fact he scored 35 runs in a Stuart Broad over. Infact, extras were the 3rd highest scorer in the Indian first innings. Coming back to England innings, Bairstow got out after scoring a century and Billings scored a few more runs. Batting second, Gill got out cheaply and both Vihari and Kohli too. It was again Pujara's class act that saved India the blushes and with not much batting to come, the IV wicket partnership holds the key. India need to score over 250 runs to make a good target and leave it to their bowlers to do the rest. This test therefore is really interesting!

Hi Friends, this is a short video on why Devendra Fadnavis is not Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Contrary to expectations, Eknath Shinde has been made the CM. This was totally unexpected and showed the political acumen of Modi and Shah. It looks like Modi had decided this even before he went to take part in the G7 meeting. No one else knew expect Shah is what we feel. The decision although surprising Carries lot of political mileage as that is the only way to prevent ShivSena from again becoming king maker as the BJP does not have a majority of its own. More than that, this decision also has been taken to keep Sharad Pawar at bay and dispel any criticism that Marathas have been kept out of power. More than that, we also feel Devendra Fadnavis has a bigger role to play at the national level and the Bjp would like to utilize his services for the upcoming Gujarat elections and the state elections coming up next year. Fadnavis has proved his mettle by helping Bjp retain Goa and Bihar and therefore his services are needed elsewhere too. Hence we feel a bigger role awaits Fadnavis and he needn't feel bad at being made Deputy CM.

Hi Friends, welcome to our review of the First day's play between India and England being played out in Birmingham, London. Well, to start with, India were in dire straits having lost 5 wickets before they could score 100. It therefore appeared that India are going to fold up soon. Enter Pant, who caused Pantemonium all around. Probably in the days to come, this word may be coined as Pant appears to be able to turn a match on it's head. With some neat hitting, fierce pulls and strokes all around, Pant raced to his century in less than 100 balls and got out while trying to reach 150. India were 338 for the loss of 7 wickets and we can think the tail can muster up a few more runs and reach 350. Beyond that, we don't see the tail wagging. If it does, it's a bonus. Coming back to the top order, once again the Openers failed to capitalize on their starts. Gill appeared to be in good firm until he gave catching practice to the Slip fielders. Pujara continues his woeful form. We are not sure why he is still being given a long rope. The rest of the batsmen should what their real capability is. Kohli got out in a funny way. If he continues to play like this, we can expect him to be dropped. Coming back to the scoreline, even though 350 may be a good one, it is not enough against Ben Stokes and Bairstow. Both really turned the tests against England in favor of England. We expect the same to happen, although if Bumrah and Shami get going, anything is possible. We have to wait till Second day on how this test may pan out. Still hats off to Pant for restoring Indian Pride!
