Hi Friends, welcome to our channel. This is a short video on Why Australia's grip on the Ashes has tightened. In the second part of the video, we are going to discuss why the West Indies exited the 2023 World Cup. Well, as expected, Australia did win the Second test, although the margin may look small. However, they won despite England's best effort to wrest it from them. Had England won, it might have been a morale boosting victory and would have set the turn in the Ashes. However, that was not be as Australia pulled it off well. One main reason for Australia winning the Second Test was the performance of their openers. Both of them didn't fail in the same innings, which was very crucial in giving them a good start. Else, England would have gained the upper hand. What was obvious in this match was the well directed short pitched bowling indulged by both the teams. Both teams appeared to be happy in bowling short deliveries. Batsmen from both teams succumbed to the tempatation and got out. A main controversy erupted when Jonny Bairstow was declared run out when the ball was not dead. Definitely Bairstow paid the price for being careless. We can't call this as against the spirit of the game. It is the Ashes and played by Australia, who are fiercely competetive. Stuart Broad was complaining against Carey. However, he himself forgot what he did in the previous Ashes series. He was in fact responsible for the review system to change every 80 overs. Previously, each team was allotted only two reviews per innings. Stuart Broad got out and the umpire didn't declare him out. Australia had burned all their reviews and didn't have anything left. As a result, Broad continued playing, eventhough he was out. It was after that realization came that the number of reviews each team is eligible for should be reset every 80 overs. Hence it is a clear case of pot calling the Kettle black. Broad should remember this. In the Second part of the video we are discussing why the West Indies are out of the 2023 World Cup. The seeds for the West Indies' terminal decline were sowed in 1983 itself. They haven't entered the Semi finals of the 50 over World Cup ever since. The reason is not far to seek as Strong batsmen in the league of Viv Richards or fast bowlers in the league of Joel Garner or Andy Roberts haven't emerged from the West Indies. An exception was Brian Lara who although was a great player, couldn't help the West Indies win a World Cup. Their decline has been comprehensive. It is unlikely that they are going to reemerge as a strong team again. When Scotland could restrict them to 181 runs, it really showed where West Indies limited over Cricket stands. let's see if they can recover again.
